| On October 7, 2001, the Alfa Center, under the direction of the Branda's & Spoelhofs, hosted it's first evangelistic outreach event....Dia do Amigo (Friends Day). We rented a picnic facility with basketball court, pools, soccer field, volleyball court, large cafeteria, big playground & trails. We encouraged our church people to invite their friends for the day - to enjoy a Service honoring friends with a Biblical message about the best friend anyone can have - Jesus; a great cook-out (brazilian style) & recreation! We also invited the English Bible hour group & ESL students to participate. We had about 155 in attendance & had a great day! The Lord provided wonderful weather after a quite cool & rainy week previously. It was a highlight for the Alfa Center & our ministry goal of reaching out into our community! Many people commented on how much fun they had & several visitors commented on how "comfortable & welcomed" they felt. Praise the Lord for each person who attended & for each of those who helped in preparations or served throughout the day in various ministries! |
