| We arrived in Bauru in December 2000 and spent our first Christmas away from home Brazilian style with friends Guto and Vanice Vannini.
After a four month delay in the release of our shipping container we were able to get settled in our home and begin language training. Dave, a Brazil MK, began the program in the middle of the program but Val and the kids started at square one. The full program ran until December when the real work began - using it every day! The boys are enrolled in Brazilian school so they learned it very quickly - had to, all their class work is in Portuguese and all their friends speak it. They speak quite fluently now! |

| Language School is done. We graduated! Darcy Pessoa, our dear friend and language teacher, moved out after spending 8 months living at out home and teaching us. She will spend some time in Rio with her aging mother before returning to Manaus, Amazonas to resume her responsibilities at the seminary there.
The English Bible Hour has ended. It ran through November as planned and we will be evaluating the possibility of starting it up again in our new location sometime later this year. Planning is already underway for our first church plant. Please pray about how you could be involved. But during the winter (here its June, July, August) it was so cold that class was held in front of the oven! Tile floors and no central heat gets very chilling.
